Step into the Ring

IN, OUT, IN, OUT, SHAKE IT ALL ABOUT

This week, wrestling has been shaken up by the relative abscence or swapping of wrestling talent. First we'll start with a situation that could effect No Way Out on June 17th. Despite the fact that at time of writing we're exactly a week away, only four matches have been added to the card. Unless WWE are planning to make Big Show and John Cena fight for thirty minutes (please god no) or (which is more likely) throw Brodus Clay and Ryback on as time fillers, then this weeks Raw and Smackdown should be full of setting up matches for No Way Out.

Though that isn't the main No Way Out news this wekk. It comes from the main event, and just when WWE thought things couldn't get any worse, Alberto Del Rio has gone down with a nasty concussion which forced him to pull out of WWE house shows and if the talk is to be belived then it could aslo keep him out of No Way Out. Some may say this isn't a bad thing, and as much as I was against the main event of SHeamus vs Alberto Del Rio, because Del Rio isn't a World Heavyweight Champion chandidate anymore, who else is going to step into the main event?

I have a horrible feeling that if Del Rio isn't healthy enough to compete then WWE may select the dull and dreary Ryback to take his place. I doubt this will happen but after the push the Goldberg lookalike has recieved then it's not impossible. Otherwise who else? Randy Orton and Rey Mysterio are out, suspended. Undertaker is injured, Brock Lesnar has limited dates on his schedule and probably won't even be at No Way Out. The only other option would be Triple H who will be at No Way Out, presumably to call out Lesnar and begin to build their match for SummerSlam. The problem with a Triple H vs Sheamus Title match would be that it would take the heat off of Triple H vs Brock Lesnar because Triple H would have already been in the ring prior to the match.

WWE could, feesably, take Kane out of the WWE Championship match and put him in World Heavyweight Championship match. As much as we don't want to see Kane anywhere near the main event again, he would be a big name replacement. Or WWE could bring Wade Barrett back prematurley or the fianl option would be to have Cody Rhodes lose the Intercontinental Championship match to Christian (which he will anyway) and then face Sheamus later in the night. Problem two, arises when Sheamus defeats Rhodes (Sheamus will retain at No Way Out whoever the opponent), and Rhodes will be tarnished with two high profles losses in one night. The final option would be to have Sheamus defeat Del Rio in Wrestlemania 28 style and have the match over with in seconds to save Del Rio anymore damage.

It's a problem WWE need to face up to now. If Alberto Del Rio cannot make No Way Out, then maybe WWE should scrap the World Heavyweight Championship match altogether and come up with another plan to use Shemaus on the event. Any other opponent will be taken down a level by looking at the lights for the champ. Until we're told otherwise, then it will still be Sheamus vs Alberto Del Rio.

Brodus Clay has been transfered to Smackdown, presumably so WWE can edit his matches to make him look half decent. The problem comes when Clay is put on live PPV when his matches cannot be edited. It's all very well editing him on T.V to make him look good, but what does WWE do when Clay is live to the world?

The final piece of surprising news is that Christian, the current WWE Intercontinental Champion, will probably appear at TNA Slammiversary. This is WWE's peace offering to TNA for taking Flair to use at the Wrestlemania 28 Hall of Fame ceremony and presumably to calm to waters of this law suit (which TNA are just doing to get attention) which TNA have filed against WWE. A lawsuit they can never hope to win.

Christian was TNA Champion for a while so I suppose this would be a good addition to TNA for one night, the problem there is that TNA should be trying to disassociate itself with WWE. They mention it on Impact, they talk about WWE constantly, they even try to copy WWE storylines and idea (this reality bullshit for instance). Does TNA's biggest PPV of the year need a WWE Star on it? No! By doing that TNA are saying that they have no stars people are willing to tune in for so they need a WWE wrestler because WWE is much better. I wish TNA would think these things through before they execute them.

Onwards and Upwards...
